How much money does an MLA make?

Of course, we are not talking officially. That is peanuts.

Take the recent case of Maadal Virupakshappa, a BJP MLA from Karnataka. The very same state where a Government Contractors Association has made allegations that they have to pay 40% commission to get contracts and bills passed, this MLA was the Chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited. Not even a minister in the Bommai Government and yet his son was caught taking bribe.

The Karnataka Lok Ayukta, raided his house after he was caught red-handed accepting 40 Lakhs as bribe and found more than 6,00,00,000 (Six Crores) in hard cash in the raids.

The MLA has since resigned and called it a conspiracy against him and his family.

Not only was the son caught accepting 40,00,000 (40 Lakhs as bribe) another 1.6 Crore was found in hard cash in his office. This is other than the 6,00,00,000 (Six Crores) that was recovered from their homes.

Has anyone in BJP called out this man? Has the PM made a statement on this affair? A PM who claims that all corruption ended when 500/1000 notes were demonetized has maintained silence on this affair.

This is perhaps for the first time that an MLA has been caught and has resigned, normally, they just brazen it out and nobody in BJP throws out such people.

And remember, this MLA is not even a minister in the Bommai Government! Imagine how much money MLA’s who are ministers must be making in this BJP Government.
