A Nagpur woman suffers due to errors in name, Lands in forceful admission in Covid Hospital

Mumbai – The poor administration by Nagpur Municipal Corporation is causing a woman who was not tested positive to stay forcefully in a Hospital for Corona treatment. The error of names created by testing lands woman in forceful admission in hospital.

“We 26 people who attended the programme were taken to the Symbiosis Hospital and were tested for Corona. Myself and my relative Renuka Dhomne were tested. Before testing, I found test tubes having names- Aparna and Dhanashri Dhomne. But there was not test tube bearing my name. I brought this to the notice of Doctors and nurses present there. I told them that Aparna and Dhanashri are names of same person who is my sister in law ( wife of his Brother in Law). Then they removed both names from test tubes and wrote my name. After we reached home, we received a message on mobile informing that Renuka and Dhanashri Dhomne were tested positive. We again called them and informed that it was not Dhanashri but Namrata was tested.

After one day, we were informed that Aparna tested positive and Renuka tested negative. Aparna was never tested and my name Namrata was written on the test- tube which has my samples. Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Police department sent officials with vehicle to forcefully pick me up to admit in the hospital. I contacted Dr. Sushama Durve who supervised this testing process and asked her to show my report having my own name. But she was not ready to accept this error on their part. I tried to convince to NMC officials but they too were not ready,” Namrata shared her plight in a choked voice with Indjournals.

Indjournals tried to contact Tukaram Mundhe, Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur through telephone calls and message. But he did not respond.

” I was forcefully admitted in Mayo Hospital( state government’s Hospital). I do not have any symptoms. All 25 persons tested with me were found Covid negative. I have 4 year old son who needs me most. But administration is punishing me for their own error,” she blamed. She has now completed 9 days in such forceful admission in the hospital. As she has no symptoms of Corona, no second test was done by NMC. The second test might have exposed the NMC and Hospital mistakes.

” My ECG, X-Ray and all other tests were under the safe parameters. Myself, my son and my family are suffering due to NMC and Hospital staff’s error and arrogance of them not to accept this,” Namrata stated with tears in her eye.
