Hey Ram!

5th August will mark the anniversary of the disastrous decision of the Modi Sarkar to subvert the rule of law, constitution and history in creating through a sleight of hand the Union Territory of J&K, taking away the rights of 9 Million people just because they are Muslims.

In one of the most gruesome murder of democracy, Narendra Modi announced the formation of the Union Territory of J&K thus abrogating in the most illegal manner the constitutional provision of Article 370 and 35A in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The President of India, as the ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, via Presidents Rule imposed due to suspension of States elected assembly signed into law the illegal parliamentary bill that took away the special rights of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

One year later, most leaders of Jammu and Kashmir remain under house arrest, communication systems remain within Government of India control and more than 8 Million troops of Indian government continue to occupy the land. During this occupation the economy of the state has been completely destroyed.

Using the statements of the past that Article 370 was a temporary provision, Modi Sarkar went ahead and climbed the tiger of Jammu and Kashmir. One year later, it has no clue as to how to get off the tiger. It can’t seem to be able to relax the draconian rules and regulations that have been imposed on the state because of fear of popular back lash. Its actions have also raised the specter of permanent occupation of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (also called as Azad Kashmir) and the intrusion of China into Ladakh, the third Union Territory created out of J&K on 5th August 2019.

That is perhaps the reason that the construction of Ram Mandir is slated for 5th August 2020. It is a mega event that will celebrate another death of rule of law. After a long drawn dispute running in hundreds of years, the Supreme Court of India came to the conclusion that the land indeed belonged to the Muslims but in the interest of peace, the land should be given to the Hindus for constructing a temple in memory of a mythical king Ram as his birth place.

But the construction of the temple flies in the face of everything that Ram stood for.

It is a sacrilege that his name is being used to dominate a smaller brother. Because of the wish of his step mother, Ram, in the mythical story, chose to go into exile for fourteen years along with his wife and younger brother. In our case, the big brother is trampling on the rights of his kid brothers and instead of protecting them from any calamity is hell bent on destroying them.Nothing could be further from the core philosophy of Ram as the ideal man and a protector of the weak.

Hey Ram.

I am a veteran from the Information Technology industry. Having started my career in 1985 with a company that later became Aptech, I have virtually seen the whole industry evolve from scratch. I became an activist in 2001 after the dot.com bust in 2000. Banking, Finance, Credit Cards, Personal Loans and by extension economy and how money flows in the world are my areas of interest. These are the things that affect everyone, irrespective of their caste, creed, color, race, religion or nationality.

One of the most fascinating thing is how humans have created money and use it as a tool to subjugate others and how we, the common folks, suffer from this man made malaise.

I write about these things and try to separate the wheat from the chaff.
