Shamelessness has a whole new meaning

Our politicians have hit the zenith when it comes to being shameless.

Take the case of the PM himself. While addressing a party meeting of BJP workers in MP, Narendra Modi called out NCP as the Naturally Corrupt Party, having a track record of scams worth 70,000 Crores.

One of the scams that he then lists includes the Irrigation Scam that allegedly took place while Ajit Pawar was the irrigation minister in the Congress-NCP government.

His man Friday, in Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, goes on record and says that it would never happen BJP will join hands with corrupt NCP to form a government. He says that if getting married to NCP became an option, he would rather stay a bachelor!

This statement is then followed by a farce of an alliance with the same leader, Ajit Pawar, and formation of a 72 Hour Government.

Few years later, after Narendra Modi calls NCP the most corrupt party, a split is engineered in NCP, a faction of 40 MLA’s led by Ajit Pawar join the Shinde-Fadnavis Government and the same Ajit Pawar who stood accused of Irrigation Scam is made Deputy CM of the state. Not only that, he is given the Finance Portfolio!

In a meeting later held in Delhi, Amit Shah, BJP leader and Home Minister of India, lauds Ajit Pawar and tells him that finally he has reached the right place. The PM poses with Ajit Pawar holding a bouquet in hand and is seen smiling.

The height of shamelessness transcends the media outlets too. They don’t find anything wrong in this unholy alliance, they don’t question the PM or Devendra Fadnavis. In fact, this shamelessness is hailed as a Master Stroke!
